History

The Serbian Orthodox Church “St. Simeon Mirotocivi” in Calgary is part of the Serbian Orthodox Church – Diocese of Canada and has a history of almost half a century.

It all began in 1960 when the Circle of Sisters was established. Driven by the desire to have a Serbian Church in Calgary, this active group of people started raising funds solely for that purpose by organizing various events.

Later, the Church-School Congregation was formed and for forty years a small chapel grew into a bigger and much bigger Church.

All priests who served at the Serbian Orthodox Church “St. Simeon Mirotocivi” left a profound mark on the Church’s pastoral and national field. May our Lord bless them in all their endeavors and give them good health and long life so that they continue to serve the Church of God and the much-suffering Serbian people.

Our newly built Serbian Orthodox Church “St. Simeon Mirotocivi” was consecrated on April 27, 2014.
