Equal of the Apostles

Through these two brothers – Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius, Christ, our God, has given us great mercy.

After His glorious resurrection, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples to strengthen their faith. And He said to them: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. (Matt. 28:19-20)

On the fiftieth day of Christ’s resurrection, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Mother of God and the apostles in the form of tongues of fire. The Holy Apostles were filled with power and gifts and went out into the world to preach the teachings of Christ.

Centuries later, Saints Cyril and Methodius followed in their footsteps. God gave them His grace, and they zealously preached the Orthodox faith among the nations, for which they suffered dangers, humiliation, and persecution.

Today, only those who keep the Orthodox faith as a precious treasure show true respect for the honorable memory of the holy brothers.
